World-famous DJ Missy Jay has collaborated and worked with some of the most well-known names in the music industry and she’s just added another laurel to her long list of accomplishments. She’s just finished reworking the tune “Nice for What” for iconic Canadian singer and performer, Drake.
“Drake is one of my favorite artists and he just sampled with “Nice for What,” an old tune from Lauryn Hill called “Ex-Factor” from the late 90s that reminds me of my early years at school and my first loves. It really touched my heart,” said Missy Jay.
“I had to rework that song in order to play it during my live gigs and for my Jayland radio show,” continued Missy Jay. “I filled it with clear sounds, bouncing balls, water drops, a rhythmic base line and a bass that keeps on banging in my ears. I had so much fun reworking this track – I can’t stop playing it and dancing to it. I imagine myself dropping this track on some beach parties in Ibiza. Banging!”
A release date hasn’t been set yet, but it’s being distributed via FM and Internet radio stations worldwide, electronic music blogs and on the Jayland radio show. It’s a party-ready, women empowering song and Drake’s video of the track features a myriad of highly recognizable female actors, comedians, dancers, models, activists, directors and producers.
It’s no surprise that Missy Jay was asked to collaborate on the project with Drake. Her music has reached No. 5 on Beatport’s Techno Chart and No. 40 on the Top 100 Beatport Chart. She’s the creator of the Jayland radio show that began as a podcast and is now broadcast live on radio stations on five continents.
